Hebocon 2026: Results

Hebocon 2026 has successfully come to a close!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated, everyone who came to watch in person, and everyone who tuned in to the livestream!

This year's tournament was packed with all kinds of wonderful creations: robots that put AI to surprisingly low-tech uses, tissues, and even human-shaped robots (not humanoid robots).

Here is a quick announcement of this year's award winners.

The Most Heboi Award
Tissue
(Hanase Rebu)

Even smaller in person than it looks in photos. Its tiny, unassuming presence and packaging covered entirely in charmingly handwritten text captivated the audience and earned it the award.

Special skill: You can blow your nose with it.

Jury Prize: Kazuhiko Hachiya Award
Grim Reaper-kun
(Johnny Bokumetsu Committee)

Shinigami-kun made an impressive run all the way to the semifinals. But at the very end, its creator stunned the audience by revealing that the controller was actually a fake—they had been pretending to operate the robot with what was, in fact, just a box the entire time.

Jury Prize: Missile Award
Memories of Summer
(Team T)

This robot was made from a collection of things associated with summer, with a controller designed to look like a specimen display. It won the award for its wide variety of tricks, including scattering its little bug minions around and blowing bubbles.

Sponsor Prize: Cemedine Award
Toothbrush-saurus
(Toothbrush-saurus)

Built around a thoroughly dental theme, the robot features a toothbrush, a model set of teeth, and a dental mirror. Yet for some reason, its only source of power is the vibration from an electric shaver. That wonderfully half-baked inconsistency won over the judges and earned it the award.

Jury Prize: Daily Portal Z Award
Crab Club
(Customaimai)

This robot won the award for its impressive array of gimmicks: spinning the motor at the rear winds up yarn to open its claws, while blowing into it inflates an internal bag and makes it blow bubbles. The creator’s posing and performance were also particularly memorable.

Champion
Cocky-Face Truck
(Nejitari Nice)

Its big special move is lifting the truck bed with a fishing rod to flip its opponent over. But completely unrelated to that trick, it won the tournament simply through the strength of its drivetrain and the sheer force of its charges.

Runner-up
Tech Robo-kun
(TECH☆TECH from NID)

A highly polished robot with a built-in PC and even the ability to talk. But in the final, where its creator had assumed they would win as expected, it was defeated by a team of elementary school students. Reflecting on his overconfidence, he left us with the memorable words: “I want to carry this lesson with me for the rest of my life.”
